How do you know when it's time to go to the emergercy room?

Panic Attack or Heart Attack: You 're experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, rapid pounding heartbeats, sweating, and a feeling of impending doom. You're a mess.

Learn your risk factors and know you can control or prevent heart disease.

  • Stop smoking.
  • Have your blood pressure checked (hypertension).
  • Have your blood cholesterol checked? Do you know what your HDL and LDL are and what you can do to lower them? We are all different, ask your doctor.
  • Exercise - yes exercise. 30- 45 minutes every day of the week, if you can.
  • Make sure you have your diabetes under control.
  • Know your BMI, and set a goal to be close to your ideal weight.
  • Deal with stress or depression in your life. In many studies depression has shown to be an independent risk factor for heart disease.

There are some risk factors we cannot change, that is why it's so important to change what we can.

  • Hereditary
  • Being over 55 years of age
  • Post Menopausal
